Enjoy these Amazing Benefits of Going Vegan

Vegan foods are rich in the nutrients your body needs

You can get all the nutrients you need from a healthy, balanced vegan diet rich in wholefoods including fruits, vegetables, pulses, grains, nuts, and seeds. Several studies have reported that people who eat vegan or plant-based tend to consume more fibre, antioxidants, potassium, magnesium, folate, and vitamins A, C, and E.

Eating vegan helps reduce our risk of suffering from cancer and other diseases

Studies suggests that eating vegan can help reduce our risk of disease, as plant-based foods are packed with phytochemicals – including the powerful antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables. Researchers found that vegans had higher concentrations of antioxidant carotenoids, a higher proportion of total omega-3 fatty acids, and lower levels of saturated fatty acids than non-vegans.

Eating vegan can help you achieve a healthy body weight

Vegan foods tend to be lower in calories than animal-derived ones, making it easier to achieve a healthy body weight without actively focusing on cutting calories. Most vegan foods contain significantly less saturated fat than animal products do, and many studies have shown that vegans tend to have lower body mass indexes than non-vegans.

Eating vegan can help to prevent type 2 diabetes

Research has shown that people who eat vegan or plant-based tend to have lower blood sugar levels than non-vegans and may reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 78%. Consuming plenty of healthy plant-based foods can also help mitigate the risk factors associated with developing diabetes, such as obesity.

Eating vegan can reduce the pain of arthritis

Studies have shown that a diet high in healthy vegan foods can help reduce the symptoms of arthritis since consuming animal-derived foods is linked to pain-causing inflammation. Eating probiotic plant-based foods such as fermented vegetables and non-dairy yoghurts with live cultures can boost the good bacteria in the large intestine, also helping to boost nutrient absorption and reduce inflammation.

Eating Vegan helps animals and the planet

The meat, fishing, egg, and dairy industries are horrific for animals, who are treated like a collection of body parts rather than the sentient beings they are. These industries are bad news for the environment too. By reducing your meat and dairy intake, you're helping more than your own body.

Rootyfuel has already helped many people cook amazing vegan recipes, with fantastic results.

Lovely Words

As a very big meat and dairy consumer, I have become aware of what I'm putting into my body since I hit my late 40's when I became lactose intolerant. As a male who works in a very male-dominated industry (electrician in construction) anything that deviates from the norm is taken as a sign of weakness, so all of a sudden having to drink lactose-free milk was hard work. Cutting down on my meat intake considerably became a joking point for some of the lads.

On a recent work trip to Seville in Spain I chose to opt for the vegan burger and challenge the guys I work with to try it. They finally agreed on how amazing it tasted and how it was less greasy.

What has really been a proving point for me is how much less puffy my face is. The comments about how much younger I look and "there's no way you're 51" are coming thick and fast! I recently ate some lamb after 10 days of only eating plant-based food (the only non-vegan item being lactose-free milk) and within an hour I was very unwell and actually sick. To me, that was my body rejecting the meat and saying 'no thanks.'

After finding Rootyfuel and the 7-days of Plant Power everything has been amazing. As someone who can be very busy, having access to quick and simple, healthy vegan recipes has been an absolute lifesaver.

Give it a go, you will be very pleasantly surprised!

Lovely Words

As a wellness coach and PT I understand the power of eating foods that really support the body and mind and keep you feeling energised throughout your day. As a busy mum I know how hard it can be to make time to cook healthy meals that the whole family will enjoy. The recipes by Rootyfuel are quick, easy and so delicious you’ll be filling up on your daily intake of fruit and veg without even realising it! And your body will definitely thank you for it!

We have really enjoyed experimenting with the recipes from Rootyfuel’s 7 days of Plant Power. Saag aloo is our favourite so far, full of flavour and nice and quick to make too. Other favourites are the mushroom, spinach and avo brunch, the butternut squash chilli and the creamy butternut squash soup. I really enjoyed the ‘tuna’ sandwiches at the launch evening too. Being allergic to real tuna, it’s great to find an alternative!
